Easter Art and Craft Ideas

Hello everyone! I hope your having a wonderful Friday. This post is dedicated to all things Easter Themed! When I mention ‘Okay we’re doing art now kids’ at school, I always receive a great big cheer – I often wonder why I don’t get the same cheer for other subjects, hmmmm! But did you know Arts and Crafts has a lot more benefits other that being super fun!

First of all it enhances children’s coordination – meaning crafts such colouring, cutting and drawing all require them to use both hands. An important skill which is also used in other key areas such as tying shoe laces!
Fine motor skills are something that children begin practicing from the moment they start preschool, play-school, junior infants, etc. – children need solid fine motor skills to hold a pencil correctly, eat food appropriately and to even dress themselves. Art is a great activity to put those fine motor skills to use.
Patience – children learn they must take their time, be careful with delicate materials and the dreaded one us teachers hate – waiting for the paint to dry before we can move on to the next part of the activity.
Self Esteem – children are proud of what they created. Their artwork is unique to them and it showcases their imagination – don’t be afraid to challenge them with more difficult art activities, they might surprise you!

Although Easter might be a bit different for all of us this year – we may not be able to see our loved ones, the extra time at home is a great excuse to join in with your kids in making some fun artwork. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover the artist within yourself. I am by no means an ‘artistic person’. It was always the one area in school I struggled with – especially when it came to creativity. So I have included some fabulous, easy to create art activities for you and your kids. All the materials you need should be found right in your very own home.
